Dear Pen Pal,

Hello from Boston! It is a hot day and as I write this, I'm thirst and wondering how hot it is where you are.
My name is Liz and for most of my life, I have lived in the United States.  I lived and studied for one year in Europe, in Spain. While I was there, I traveled to Tunisia, which is the only place in Africa that I have ever visited.  I like to travel and hope to someday spend more time tasting the tastes, seeing the sights, and feeling the sharp sun of Africa against my face and arms.
I am supposed to tell you here what is important to me, a  big topic to think and write about.  If I had to pick one thing, I would say family.  I have a mother,  two sisters and a brother, and my brother has a son, and they are important to me.  There are lots of things that I like- reading books, going to museums, drinking coffee, and spending time with friends.  But I think the most important part of my life is my family- and some of my friends fit this category.  I heard somewhere that "friends are our chosen families" and I think that's true.  At the end of the day, it's the good people around us who make us laugh, who listen to us, and help us to be who we are, who are most important.
So, now it's your turn to tell me about yourself.  What do you consider important?

I'm a teacher, I like books and coffee, I speak two language (Spanish and English) and I am terrible at playing soccer, but like to watch baseball. Who are you?  What do you like?
Have a great month.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers!
Liz
