Hi,

Lately I think about the future a lot. Most of the time, when I think about the future I have a great deal of hope. I see my life right now as a good one, but I hold greater hope that in my near future, my life will also change for the better. As I’ve talked about before, this year I am finishing school to become a teacher. I am looking forward to being able to teach very soon. I like being in school, but I am even more excited about the next year, when I will be able to teach in a classroom. I am ready to be a teacher instead of the student! I am also looking forward to moving in the next few months. I can't wait to move back near my family and friends – right now I live far away from them and I miss them. I can't wait to be near them – just thinking about them makes me smile. I also can’t wait to move because it is much warmer where I am moving than it is where I am living now. Another thing that made me hopeful about the future was the recent election that we had here in the United States. We chose a man named Barack Obama top be our new president. His father is from Africa, and he is the first African American president of the United States. Choosing Barack Obama to lead our country gave me hope for the future because I believe that he will help to change our country for the better. I also hope that our new president will help America demonstrate its greatness as a nation through service to other countries and people who need us. The night that Barack Obama was elected, people celebrated in the streets; it is the time I have been most proud to be an American. Did you hear about the election there? What did people think about it? I am curious to hear how people reacted outside of the United States. What do you look forward to in your life? What are your dreams for the future? I am really looking forward to hearing from you about this!

God bless,

Erin
